An east side West Side Story

Tonight we rounded off the end of the academic year in style with the last of three sold out nights of our annual musical production.
Our ambitious production of West Side Story, featuring a huge cast of students from years 7 to 13, is the one production that Principal, Ms Arles and Ms Cameroon have wanted to stage ever since the academy opened.
The classic musical and film, started out as a Broadway showed inspired by Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. It tells the story of a forbidden romance between Tony and Maria, who are members of rival teenage gangs, the Jets and the Sharks. The story explores themes of love, prejudice, and turbulence in a divided New York City.
A performance like this cements our commitment to providing our students with rich creative and cultural experiences, an important part of what makes up ‘The City Experience‘ at Shoreditch Park.
