Welcome to the Working from Home section of the school website. The information here will apply should we have to enter another phase of remote learning at any point.
- It is our expectation that you attend 100% of your online lessons unless you are very unwell.
- We track attendance to every online lesson. Pupils will be marked ‘late’ if they do not arrive on time.
- Parents will be notified by our attendance team if you are not attending your online lessons.
- Excellent attendance and punctuality will be rewarded at the end of term.
Live Lessons
- Just like at school, live lessons will include phases of on-screen time and phases of independent work where you will need to complete a task in your exercise book or on a website.
- You will be expected to submit quizzes as well as written work online, as directed by your teacher.
- Teachers will be giving feedback on your work in a variety of online methods.
- Teachers and/or members of the behaviour team will be in contact if we have concerns about your engagement.
Devices
- Please email your tutor if you have not already made the school aware that you do not have access to a device to join remote lessons.
- Please note that it is possible to join live lessons via a phone, Xbox or Playstation. Of course this is a last resort as ideally you need access to a keyboard.
Homework
- Since we understand that 6 hours per day of remote lessons will be demanding for all pupils, we will not set additional homework during periods of online learning.
- You will be required to submit work from their lessons as requested by the teacher instead.
- This will typically be in the form of a quiz, a Google document or a Hegarty Maths task for example.
- However, you will be expected to catch up on any missed or incomplete work from your lessons.
Behaviour Expectations Online
- Students are expected to arrive on time to all lessons.
- Students are not permitted to use microphones unless asked by their teacher.
- During virtual lessons we use a warning-removal system.
- Warnings and removals can be given for inappropriate use of the chat function/talking when not asked etc.
If you are removed from a lesson you will receive a phone call from the class teacher. For any subsequent removals from the same class you will receive a phone call from either a Behaviour Mentor or Achievement Team Leader.
