PE & Fitness

A message from Ms Ramsey – Our subject leader for PE…

Welcome to COLASP PE! We are an inclusive Physical Education department that encourages students to cultivate a passion for physical activity while simultaneously providing academic challenges through the enhancement of theoretical concepts in PE.

Our goal is to provide students with opportunities to specialise in traditional activities and games while also exploring new activities that foster the development of transferable skills. We strongly encourage all students to participate in extra-curricular clubs. Additionally, we welcome suggestions for new activities; if we have the capacity and ample interest, we are enthusiastic about supporting community growth!

  • Boys Football (Year 7-11) – is separated into year groups working on strategic play to prepare for local weekend and London cup fixtures. Trials for the team run at the beginning of the academic year.
  • Girls Football (all years) – An  increasingly popular club and always looking for more numbers, the girls football club improves upon skill level and prepares the girls for local Hackney league fixtures and tournaments.
  • Netball (Year 7&8) – An open club which focuses on the fundamentals of Netball. Players can be selected from here to play in the Hackney Schools league where we have already seen success at KS3.
  • Netball (Year 9-11) –  An open club which increases challenge and develops tactical play to aid in the Hackney Schools league as well as DofE students skills section.
  • Badminton –  An open club suited to those who prefer individual sports, students are welcome to come in and play and build community by playing all members of COLASP including staff!
  • Morning Fitness Club – Our morning fitness clubs are designed to engage students with safety principles in the gym as well as building confidence in themselves. Students can use all the resources with spotters regardless of being in Y7 or in sixth form.
